In 2011, our employees helped us choose North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) as our company charity partner.
The charity provides the rapid, pre-hospital care which can make a life-saving difference. It operates three helicopters, 365 days per year, with doctors and paramedics on board, and covers the whole of our region. The service is especially beneficial for patients involved in major trauma, such as head or spinal injuries.
NWAA’s running costs are in excess of £6 million each year – all of which must be raised through voluntary donations, as the charity receives no mainstream funding.
We’ve had an outpouring of support from our employees since the charity was selected. Fundraising activities have ranged from cake sales and marathons to a ballroom dancing competition and stacking toilet rolls to set a 'new' Guinness World Record!
Thanks to everyone’s efforts and our matched funding scheme, we’ve been able to give the NWAA a whopping £150,000 to date - that’s equivalent to a year’s fuel.
